WhatsApp update for iPhone brings Pinned chats, Share all file type, and Photo bundling

Popular messaging application WhatsApp has rolled out the bunch of new features with its latest update for an iPhones users. This feature is available in the latest WhatsApp version 2.17.40 which is 99.6MB in size is available for download via the App Store. The latest update comes with features like Pinned chats, Share all file type, and Ability to delete multiple photos. All these features were available to Android users earlier and now it was made available to iPhone. Let’s have a look at these feature one by one.

  • Pinned Chats: This feature allows users to pin up to three contacts on the chat priority basis. To pin the chat, users have to swipe right the chat contact ribbon. After that a Pin option highlight on next to the Unread option of chat. Further, users have to click on the Pin icon, and after that, the conversation will be automatically shifted to the top where it will remain intact unless the users unpin it in the future. Notably, users can only pin up to maximum three chats.
  • Share all file types: This feature was announced to Android users last week. It is now rolling out to iOS. This feature allows iPhone users to send or share any document irrespective of their file format. This feature helps the user to send the desired files quickly through chat window instead of hectic email process.
  •  Photo bundling: This feature helps users to make the chunks of photos through clicking them one by one and bundle together automatically. Now users can tap and hold for a sec on the photo album which in turn highlight new command like Forwarding All or Delete All. Here users can select Delete All command to delete the selected photos.

In an entirely different news, WhatsApp is also working on in-App Playback for YouTube Videos. Until now, users were re-directed to YouTube once they click on the link. But, with the latest update, this Facebook owned messaging platform is secretly testing the in-app playback. This feature was discovered by WABetaInfo is currently not available to the public as the company is testing it. Once the testing is done, the app will allow users to play videos from YouTube in picture-in-picture mode. The video play back stops once you come out the chat. 

WhatsApp Video Playback

This feature will only available to iPhone 6 and later models, due to the larger display size. This feature was spotted for iOS at the moment, needs to be seen if it would be available for Android. Stay tuned for more info.
