The latest WhatsApp iOS update brings four new features, pinch-to-zoom option on video. A lot is happening behind the scenes of technology with every application developer trying to put their best foot forward into obtaining new user while maintaining the old ones.

WhatsApp is one such application having introduced a new update for iOS that will come with additional features the likes of ‘Pinch to Zoom’ on video content.

The feature will gain flexible support as a result of iOS’s updated version to 2.12.14 and will enable the sharing of pictures and video with third parties.

The use of ‘Pinch to Zoom’ feature will involve being able to zoom in on a video message while it is live on WhatsApp. With the main highlight being the ability to share, the update will enable its users to share photos and videos from different sources beyond the camera gallery.

The sharing of storage apps such as Microsoft One Drive, Google Drive and Dropbox will also be enabled with just a simple tap of “Choose from another app” option which appears right at the bottom. Tapping on it will give the user a prompt to make a choice from the third-party apps.

Well, this update sounds exciting and adventurous as it also introduces an improved design for browsing photos and videos. However, for WhatsApp to reflect these third-party apps, they must be installed on the user’s iPhone.

The iPhone must be running iOS 6.0 or above to be able to accommodate the 72.5MB update which can now be easily downloaded from the Apple App Store.

And as if that is not enough, the update also brings on board the option of choosing from solid colours a background of one’s choice. It is likely that many WhatsApp users will embrace this update perhaps for entertainment purposes and by the virtue of the fact that over 250 million videos are shared each day.

WhatsApp, which has close to 1 billion active users, is not resting its case on updates. Word has it that it is focusing on new Emojis for its Android app whose update is expected to rollout in India any time from now.
