Just a few days ahead of the Vivo Apex 2019 launch, the company has quietly introduced Vivo Y89 in China. Being yet another mid-range smartphone, the Vivo Y89 has been listed on official site and is up for sale via AliExpress.
The main highlights of the smartphone include a notched display, Snapdragon 626 SoC and dual rear cameras. Let’s talk more in detail.
Vivo Y89 Features
The Vivo Y89 sports a large 6.3-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. The panel further flaunts a pixel density of 400ppi, alongside a 19:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the notch on top.
Under the hood, the handset gets powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. For starters, the Snapdragon 626 is a slightly upgraded version of the popular SD625 chipset. Furthermore, the device incorporates 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB).
For photography, the Vivo Y89 gets a vertically stacked dual camera setup at the rear. The setup comprises of a primary 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, backed by a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. For selfies, we have a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture & selfie flash at the front.
Interestingly, the camera app is equipped with nifty AI features including an AI- beauty mode. There’s also a full-fledged pro mode, accompanied by panorama, AR shoot, backlight photo, blur photo, slow motion, and more.
On the software front, the Y89 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with FunTouch OS 4.0 on top. A 3,260mAh backs all of this. Additionally, users can opt between fingerprint scanner and facial recognition for unlocking the smartphone.
Lastly, the Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, and GLONASS. It measures 154.81 x 75.03 x 7.89mm and weighs quite light at 149.3 grams.
