Vivo has now further expanded its mid-range portfolio by silently launching the Vivo Y3 smartphone in China. The new handset under Y-series flaunts triple rear cameras, a massive 5,000mAh battery as its main highlights.
As for the specs, Vivo Y3 comes with a 6.35-inch LCD having a resolution of 1544 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.3:9. Furthermore, the phone flaunts an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 89%, thanks to the water-drop notch upfront.
Under the hood, the phone gets powered by octa-core MediaTek P35 SoC. There’s 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, accompanied by a microSD card slot to expand the room further up to 256GB.
For photography, the Vivo Y3 boasts of a triple camera set up at the back. The module comprises of a 13MP main sensor with f/2.2 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensing (f/2.4) camera. There’s also a 16MP camera on the front for selfies, housed by the waterdrop-shaped notch. Additionally, the front camera facilitates the face unlock feature.
On the software front, the handset runs Android 9 Pie with FunTouch OS 9 on top. A massive 5,000mAh battery backs all of this with support for 18W Dual-Engine Fast Charging. Note that it still makes use of the old microUSB instead of USB type-C port. Other notable features on the Vivo Y3 include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, AI-based digital assistant Jovi, Easy Mode, and an e-sports mode called Game Cube.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (version unspecified), USB OTG, Micro-USB (v2.0) port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Moreover, the sensors on the phone consist of an accelerometer, digital compass, fingerprint sensor, and proximity sensor.
The only model of Vivo Y3 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage has been priced at CNY 1,498 (roughly Rs. 15,200) in China. Available in Peacock Blue, Peach Pink, and Ink Blue colours, the phone can be bought from Vivo’s online store, as well as JD.com. The company is yet to comment on the availability of the smartphone in India.
