As 5G services in the U.S. continue to evolve, Verizon Communications Inc. has announced today the launch of its wireless broadband service in about three to five markets in the U.S. by the year 2018. Verizon’s decision to launch 5G residential broadband has made it rank high among the broadband services industry with the first commercial application of this next generation service.

Verizon has marked the very first application of the fifth generation wireless services. Instead of copper or fiber cables, these services shall make use of radio signals to provide the customers with unparalleled services and fast wireless speed for smooth internet experience. The customers opting for this service shall benefit from numerous enhanced services like mobile, broadband and Internet of things (IoT) along with the required bandwidth as well as low latency feature for 3D and virtual reality applications.

The second half of the upcoming year shall mark the launch of Verizon’s first ever commercial launch plan of 5G services at Sacramento, Calif. The details of the launch, announcement of any other markets and other such information shall be provided at a subsequent date. Verizon successfully tried and tested the 5G residential broadband applications this year in over 11 markets. The new technology works upon millimeter-wave spectrum which is the reason behind Verizon’s confidence along with the successful customer experience.

This success in trials has boosted the confidence of the company which estimates that the initial market for 5G residential broadband service shall be more or less 30 million houses all over the nation. Verizon’s consolidated capital expenditures for the year 2018 shall not have any impact on the commercial launch of 5G services. Verizon expects the totality of upcoming year’s capital spending program to be consistent with the past years.

As explained by Hans Vestberg, Verizon president of Global Networks and Chief Technology Officer, “This is a landmark announcement for customers and investors who have been waiting for the 5G future to become a reality. We appreciate our strong ecosystem partners for their passion and technological support in helping us drive forward with 5G industry standards, for both fixed and mobile applications. The targeted initial launches we are announcing today will provide a strong framework for accelerating 5G’s future deployment on the global standards.”

At a meeting held by Verizon later today along with the analysts, the company shall not discuss the suggested tax reform legislation as the Congress is gradually working through the legislative process of the same. Verizon continues to support the tax reform that would greatly reduce the corporate rates at the international level of competition.
