Reliance Jio now targets DTH, broadband services after 4G LTE

Reliance Jio has already caused a ruffle with its 4G LTE services and has competitors scrambling come at par with its formidable opponent. Having overshadowed other 4G service providers, Reliance is now eyeing for bigger things. It wants to get the best in the current situation in the nation which is slowly moving towards a cashless economy, and the internet will be an inalienable part of any citizen. Jio is now working on providing the internet with 1Gbps speed and set top box with a host of HD channels.

Reliance Jio has been preparing the groundwork for almost a decade, laying down fiber optic cables across the nation. It is all set to give Fiber to Home services with speeds of 1Gbps and has already started the services as a limited pilot program in cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Reliance Jio Fiber FTTH 1Gbps broadband tariff is rumored to start at Rs 500.

This is not all; Jio is also planning to have set top box which will offer live TV streaming coupled with other services which it is offering as a part of its ‘My Jio’ app suite with its 4G LTE services. The company showcased its FTTH service, and it will come coupled with NVIDIA SHEILD Android TV to have TV functionality. Consumers will have a choice of 350 channels which also includes 48 HD channels, and viewers can watch “Catch Up” TV for up to one week. Everything will be recorded in the Jio servers, so there is no need for recording anything.

There will be a smart remote which will recognize voice commands, and the user e.g. will say Shahrukh Khan and all content about the actor in the last seven days will be available. Users will also have the choice of using the same connection for multiple TV streams on multiple devices.
