2016 Toyota Etios Platinum, Etios Liva debut in India: Price and spec details

Japanese manufacturer Toyota has introduced a facelift version of the Etios and the Etios Liva hatchback in India. The 2016 Toyota Etios Platinum is another mid-size sedan that will be sold in the country for an on-road price of Rs. 6.43 lakh (base model) and Rs. 8.87 lakh (top model).

The facelift in the Etios Platinum includes a V-shaped grille at the front and wider bumpers. The back bumpers have only been slightly modified. The boot cover has a chrome finish in the middle adding that extra bit of shine.

The instrument cluster on the inside has been redesigned, with a new speedometer and a classier grip on the steering wheel. The dual-tone dashboard also adds to the rich interiors.

Toyota Etios Platinum 2016 Specs and Features

Not much has been released about the features, but currently, the sedan is sold in two versions: 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel. The petrol generates 89bhp and 132Nm torque, whereas the diesel engine clocks up to 67bhp and 170Nm torque.

The same manual 5-speed gearbox from the previous model carries out the transmission duties. Known for being very safe and family-friendly, the car has dual airbags and anti-lock braking system. The immobilizer and keyless entry are another safety add-ons.
The petrol variant gives a mileage of 16.78 kmpl, and the diesel variant gives 23.59 kmpl.
In its league, the new Etios will face strict competition from Chevrolet Sail, Maruti Swift Dezire, Tata Zest, Honda Amaze, etc. in India.
