Tata Motors has unveiled its Zest Sportz Edition to celebrate its second anniversary and crossing the 50,000 sales mark. The latest version is a special edition of its compact sedan Zest and remains unchanged regarding style and design. It comes with a body kit which includes a red colored OVRM caps, alloy rims, rain wipers and tri-colored graphics.

The Tata Zest was launched August 2014 and is available in both petrol and diesel engine versions. The petrol version is a turbocharged 1.2 liter Revotron engine and produces 88.73 BHP power and 140Nm torque. The 1.3-liter Multijet motor delivers 88.8BHP power at 200Nm torque. The diesel engine is available in two states of tunes- 73bhp and 190 Nm, as well as 88bhp and 200Nm. Transmission options include the 5-speed manual on both engines, while the 88bhp diesel also gets the 5-speed AMT unit.

Other features include touchscreen infotainment from Harman, driver and passenger airbags, climate control rear parking sensors, adjustable driver’s package and rear defogger. Additional chrome finishing’s, bumper protectors, upgraded upholstery, door visors and moldings are other features. The variant also features projector headlamps and LED DRLs.

Though produced by Tata Motors as a revised strategy for its new products, it has not been able to endear itself to the consumers despite very positive reviews. The sedan has however been able to garner a sale of 1500 to 2000 units in the past few months. However, it has not been able to garner the kind of success of its counterparts like Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent, and Honda Amaze, etc. The performance, ease of handling and value it was offering for money was stunning. However, the steep price as compared to its compatriots was a dampener.

The sedan is becoming popular with the consumers and the latest entry to this section id Volkswagen which has recently launched its Amos, which also boasts a Diesel engine and DSG gearbox this festive season. Zest carries a price tag of Rs. 5.11 lakhs ex-showroom in Delhi.
