Tata CLiQ an e-commerce business venture of Tata Group will be launched by Tata Unistore on 27th May for its consumers. It will be available across its website and mobile app. This new development by Tata is in keeping with the competitions in the market.
Also a number of big companies have gone the e-commerce route and have seen great success so far. Recently both Aditiya Birla Group and Reliance Industries launched their online portal for the growing e-commerce consumers. Abox.com, was launched by Aditiya Birla Group six months ago and Ajio, an online retail fashion was launched by Reliance.
Tata Unistore issued a statement about the wide range of options that will be available on the e-commerce site. In the coming time CliQ is planning to add on more offering along with its current offering in apparel, footwear and electronics categories.
In an interview to Economics Times, it was stated by Ashutosh Pandey, Chief Executive Officer, Tata CliQ that the Q in the logo is a magnifying glass which focuses on providing the best brand and products to its consumers. Also, the name itself will make the customer trust to shop online. Also, the brand attention is to serve authentic and exclusive products for online shoppers with impeccable taste.
There are also reports that Tata CLiQ, will include products from both Tata and other companies.
Goldman Sachs has recently released a report on the trend of e-commerce companies and their estimated growth. In the report, it was estimated that the current size of e-commerce in India is $20 billion and by 2030, the e-commerce platform will contribute to 2.5 percent of India’s gross domestic product. Currently, the industry is growing by 15% in India.
Tata’s this new move shows that they have understood the growing popularity of the e-commerce domain which has given a huge competition to brick-and-mortar retail around the world.
