Summer Game Fest highlights

The Summer Game Fest 2022 has established itself as the host platform for gaming and digital events, typically held during the summer. Without E3-2022, the dive has been cast for the Geoff Keighley led-event to take the lead this summer, starting with a cross-sector showcase event with full world premieres and announcements. The event will furnish gamers with a primary event and several sideshows.

With the Summer Game Fest 2022 coming up, this would be the ideal time to head over to same day withdrawal online casinos and brush up on your gaming knowledge.  You can also expect some of the games featured at the Summer Game Fest to be available to play online in the coming months. When it comes to gaming, there is always something waiting to be cherished next.

The history of the Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest was first introduced and held in 2020. They are basically, filling the vacuum created by cancelling the in-person event like E3 and PAX. The Fest provides a variety of videos and live streams for a few months. There will be reveals and events to cover both significant and minor hitters. Big hitters are expected to take the stage and introduce their reveals mid-June. As done in the Summer Game Fest 2021, it is likely that this year’s event will commence with a showcase.

The Summer Game Fest of 2022

The Fest will start on Thursday, 9 June 2022. Unlike other virtual events and expositions, it does not end after a few days. It will continue to serve as a hub for reveals and gaming activities throughout the summer.

Beyond the opening showcase, it will have a broad range of events, including Netflix Geeked Week: Gaming, Tribeca Games Spotlight, and Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. More side events are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Exhibitor List for the Summer Game Fest 2022

So far, over thirty publishers have confirmed their participation in the Summer Game Fest 2022. One can find the authorised publishers – Xbox, Bethesda, PlayStation, 2K, Netflix, Epic Games, SEGA, Warner Brothers Games, and many more.

Each publisher is expected to host events on its social media or streaming platforms. The festival, in general, will have its channel but can also be followed on Twitch and YouTube. The beauty of all this is that it is free for anyone wishing to follow the festival’s events.

Past summer showcases divulged little information before the commencement of the showcase itself, and this year’s event is no exception—few details about what to expect at the Summer Game Fest 2022. However, recognising Geof Keighley’s work, one would expect a combination of new game premiers and new, improved looks at past announced games. It is also uncustomary for publishers and gaming companies to formally announce what they have on the shelves before the event starts. They usually tease gamers with a trailer of what to expect during the festival and then provide more details.

The tech giants dominating the Summer Game Fest 2022

It will be no surprise, for example, for Microsoft or Ubisoft to devise a two-part strategy wherein they tease the public at the Summer Game Fest 2022 and then reveal all the details. Interestingly, Microsoft will be sharing the stage with its recent acquisition Bethesda this year. This could be a clue to see Starfield making a big splash.

The Summer Game Fest 2022 will not be similar in format to the events organised by Microsoft or Ubisoft. Whilst the latter focus mainly on titles appearing on a particular hardware platform or coming from a specific publisher, the Summer Game Fest will be a window of opportunity to debut games that they are willing to showcase. In recent Summer Fest, we witnessed heavy-hitters like Death Stranding, Elden Ring, Star Wars Eclipse, and Bayonetta 3.

In the meantime, Sony also has big plans in-store

Sony is streaming a new State of Play presentation on 2 June; Xbox and Bethesda Showcase is slated for 12 June, and the Future-produced PC Gaming show will be held after Microsoft’s event.

Sony Stat of Play’s show will be around thirty minutes long, and it is expected to reveal Sony’s third-party partners and a sneak glimpse at several games in development for PlayStation VR2.

The Warhammer Skulls Livestream + Past Show will bring world premiere announcements, first looks, latest developments and enhancements, and promotions across the Warhammer video game portfolio.

Netflix Geeked Week is a must-follow

The Netflix Geeked Week will be back for the Summer Game Fest 2022, and it is scheduled from 6 to 10 June. Throughout this virtual period, Netflix intends to provide exciting reveals and updates on various programs like the Sandman, The Umbrella Academy, Manifest, The Gray Man, Alice in the Borderland, Day Shift, Resident Evil, and the Sea Beast. A novelty will be Netflix’s exclusive games. During Netflix’s week, the company will feature cast reveals, talent appearances, trailers, surprises, and more from over sixty Netflix projects. The week will be staggered as follows: Monday dedicated to Series; Tuesday to Film; Wednesday to Animation; Thursday to Stranger Things, and Friday to Games.

Black Voices in Gaming will be dedicated to presenting games developed and developers of colour; titles featuring Black protagonists, conversations, and exchanges of views with the creators.

The future of gaming starts here

Upload VR showcase will take place in early June and will introduce new VR titles and share developments and updates on some of the most expected VR games across several headsets. The last event, they held in 2021. VR included games like Cities: VR, Vertigo 2, and Moss Book 2.

The IGN Expo is slated for 10 June and will comprise new announcements on new gameplay, and exclusive gaming reveals. Last year the IGN Expo featured Doki Doke Literature Club Plus, World War Z Aftermath; the new studio from the Call of Duty Zombies creator in tandem with PlayStation. For the coming Summer Game Fest, IGN has been working hard to make its products and services to the next level.

Other Summer Games Fest events are not to be missed

Guerilla Collective Showcase is set for 11 June. The digital showcase will present new announcements, trailers, gameplay, and a Steam event page for wish-listing, demos, game ordering, and much more from developers and publishers across the globe.

Other vital publishers taking part in the Summer Game Fest 2022 include Wholesome Games Direct, Future Play Direct, NetEase Games Livestream, PC Gaming Show, and Freedom Games Showcase 2022.

The Summer Game Fest 2022 will feature several digital live stream shows, including a spectacular live opening show filled with exciting announcements, reveals, and new games. Publishers and gamers alike are all looking forward to this annual digital event.
