Sony Xperia XA Ultra now available in India: Price, Specs and features

Sony has launched the selfie-centric Xperia XA Ultra today in India. The latest smartphone has been priced Rs. 29,990 and will be available for purchase in all major electronics stores across the country from tomorrow itself. The phone comes in graphite black, white and lime gold colors.

The company is bundling three months of Hungama and Sony Liv app subscriptions for free with the handset. Buyers of the latest smartphone from Sony will also get Rs. 1,000 worth e-books free of cost.

The XA Ultra was unveiled couple of months ago in May this year. The USP of the phone is its powerful front camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a dedicated LED flash. The selfie camera has a resolution of 16 Mega Pixels and essentially is the same camera module which Samsung uses in its previous year’s flagship – the Galaxy S6.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra Specs

The smartphone sports a 6-inch Full HD 1080P display with an exceptional brightness of well above 500 nits. The IPS LCD screen covers 76.6 percent of the front surface area of the phone. A scratch-resistant glass of some disclosed brand provides protection to the display.

The MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 processor is at the heart of the Xperia XA Ultra. Each of the eight ARM Cortex A53 cores of the processor can run at 2.0 GHz simultaneously, and there is no big.LITTLE technology. The graphics are managed by the dual core Mali T860 MP2 GPU. The smartphone runs the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Sony’s User Interface on the top.

There is 3 GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage capacity. The phone supports microSD card up to 256 GB capacity. There is a dedicated microSD slot, unlike several new phones where the microSD card blocks one of the SIM card slots.

The rear camera of the Xperia XA Ultra is a 21.5 MegaPixel shooter. It has an aperture of f/2.2. The camera can focus automatically using both PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and contrast simultaneously. The front camera of the phone is a 16 Mega Pixels module complete with OIS and LED flash. Both the cameras can record Full HD (1080P) videos at 30 FPS.

The smartphone has the dimensions of 164 x 79 x 8.4 mm. It is extremely compact and possibly the narrowest phone with 6-inch display size. The XA Ultra weighs 202 grams. The phone comes both in single SIM and dual SIM variants. The latter also supports dual standby. Both the models are 4G LTE enabled. Other connectivity options are 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth v4.1 with LE, A2DP, and aptX, FM Radio with RDS, NFC and microUSB v2.0. There is no Type-C USB port. The smartphone is juiced up by a non-removable lithium-ion battery with 2700mAH capacity.
