Design and Specifications

It comes in a pretty small box with the unit, the USB cable for charging and lots of documentation including the warranty. The aux cable is not included which I also mentioned in the cons because it should be included in the box because it has an option to play directly using the aux.

The speaker is small and cylindrical with a silicone strap which can be hooked to a carabiner or a hook to hang it while playing the music. The speaker is lightweight too, it weighs approximately 260 grams, and the specifications is pretty amazing for this much small speaker. It comes with 46mm mono full range speaker.

The top of the speaker has the grills, and the bottom part has some openings for bass creation. It got all the buttons on the side and Sony branding too. The whole speaker is covered with a rubbery material mainly for water resistant feature. The micro USB port and 3.5 mm audio in port is hidden away under a rubber tab. The microphone is provided with the buttons for calling purposes.

For connectivity, it comes with NFC for faster connection and 3.5 mm AUX port for wired connection to the source. The AUX cable is not included with the speakers. It comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and can be operated up to 10 meters. It comes with IPX5 water protection which makes it splash resistant but not fully immersible. The battery life is approximately 16 hours according to the Sony website.

The first feature of the Sony SRS-XB10 speakers is the bass quality; this wireless speaker is from the Extra Bass series. Sony provides such amazing Bass ready audio devices and accessories like headphones and more.

The other feature is that if you want more bass and stereo quality sound, then you can easily connect two Sony SRS-XB10 and get the stereo sound. The NFC connectivity is also there on the speakers for faster connectivity with the smartphones.

The speaker is splash proof and you can use it near the pool or in the rain(not torrential rains). Because of the strap, it comes with, you can hang it anywhere. And the most unusual feature is the long battery backup, Sony claims that the battery can last up to 16 hours.

By keeping this in mind that this wireless speaker is only made to deliver bass and the Sony did a really great job doing that. This small speaker delivers amazing bass which can groove your whole indoor party at full volume. While playing music outdoors, you can listen to the music clearly but can’t get that groove.

When Sony said Extra Bass, it means it will provide better bass and is the only bass driven wireless speakers. If you are a kind of guy who wants to listen to the lyrics of the music not dancing all around then this spear is not for you. This speaker is for a person who doesn’t care about the lyrics and love to groove on those beats.

Coming to the battery, connection and water resisting performance, I got to say that Sony did a really great job. The battery is long lasting, and you won’t need to put it on the charge in between your party at all. Regarding connectivity, you can pair your smartphone via NFC, and you can easily operate it from another room or from behind the wall. Now, the water resistance is really not that much practical when it is an indoor speaker, but it can survive that drink anyone is going to splash on it.

  • Great bass
  • Small and compact design
  • Comes with strap.

  • Audio cable not included
  • Vocals are not crisp

The Sony SRS-XB10 is a portable speaker only for them who wants a small wireless speaker for a small indoor party. And it can be used for parties too because of the splash proof feature. The promise of providing up to 16 hours battery backs seems to be legit because, in our testing, we play it for straight 2 to 3 hours for four days without charging it once. The price of these Sont speakers justifies for the features because at least you own a Sony wireless speaker for Rs. 3,189. But if you want clear vocals then you really have to look some other options from Sony.
