The South Korean electronics giant, Samsung, has quietly released the successor to its Galaxy Core, the Galaxy Core Plus in Taiwan. The latest offering from Samsung is priced at 7,990 Taiwan Dollars, which, if converted into Indian currency, will be approximately Rs. 17,050 for off-contract. However, till now, Samsung has kept the lips tight regarding the availability of the Galaxy Core Plus in other markets.
Surprisingly, unlike what the name suggests, the Galaxy Core Plus is pretty much disappointing compared to its predecessor in terms of the specifications. Compared to Galaxy Core’s Android 4.1 software, the Galaxy Core Plus runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, with Samsung’s trademark TouchWiz UI. Similar to the former, Samsung’s latest smartphone also offers dual SIM facilities (GSM+GSM), as well as the same TFT display with 480×800 pixels resolution. While both the former and the latter devices are powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor, the Galaxy Core Plus has just 768MB of RAM against the 1GB offered by Galaxy Core. Furthermore, compared to the 8GB internal storage of Galaxy Core, the Galaxy Core Plus has only 4GB of inbuilt storage on offer, which is expandable upto 64GB via microSD card.
Its other features include, a 5-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, along with a VGA front-facing camera, connectivity options like Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, and GPS, as well as a 1800mAh battery.
The device comes with a size of 129.7×65.9×9.4m, and weighs 134 grams. The Samsung Galaxy Core Plus also borrows some smart features from some of the high-end Galaxy phones, including Smart Stay, Smart Alert, Motion UI, and S Voice.
It’s worthwhile mentioning that Samsung had launched its mid-ranged Galaxy Core in the Indian market in May this year.
