Samsung has launched the Galaxy J7 Prime in India today and it is listed on the company’s official website at a price of Rs. 18,790. The upgraded version of the Galaxy J7 was recently launched in Vietnam.
The smartphone shows off a unibody design with a full metal build. The fingerprint scanner that was missing in the original Galaxy J7 has been brought with the upgrade. The selfie-centric smartphone has a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary camera with LED flash.

The curved 2.5D AMOLED display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The 5.5-inch full HD IPS display is also something to look out for. As far as the processor is concerned, it is powered by a 1.6 GHz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor backed by Mali T830MP2 GPU. The 3GB RAM is what keeps it going. The in-house storage is 16GB, which is expandable via microSD card by up to 256GB.
The 3300 mAh battery is complimented by the S Power planning feature. It allows the user to save battery by letting through only calls to save battery, and the calls can also be redirected to another number. The S Secure allows the user to securely save apps and content.
The dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz and microUSB are the connectivity options.It runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 OS and TouchWiz UI skin.
Aimed at a selfie-loving demographic, the Samsung Galaxy J7 will be up against the likes of OPPO F1 and Gionee S6. As far as reputation is concerned, Samsung is way ahead of the other mentioned brands. However, a similar or better spec-sheet has never failed to prompt users to switch brands.
The OPPO F1 may be slightly inferior in terms of the display with a 720p HD panel, but the rest of the features are at par.
