The much awaited small car from the French car maker Renault, the Renault Kwid 1.0 has been launched in India today. The car as the name hints has a 1.0-litre petrol engine. It has been through a facelift and has some minor style updates and a better power versus torque ratio. Only the higher variants, RXT and RXT(O) will be available in India. It has features similar to the 0.8-litre trim. The release features a modified engine so expect a small price change but not anything drastic.

Renault Kwid 1.0-litre Specs

The Renault KWID SCe 1.0 liter has a 999cc three cylinder petrol engine that generates 67 BHP of power and develops 91Nm of peak torque. It has a 5-speed manual gearbox as the 0.8 liter trim. Renault is expected to launch the AMT version of the Kwid which will come mated to the 1.0-litre version only.

The Renault Kwid 1.0 liter SCe RXT version carries a price tag of INR 3.82 lakh while the RXT (option) is available at INR 3.95 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). Comparing the two versions with the regular 0.8-litre version of the Renault Kwid, the car is available only at a premium of INR 22,000and at almost the same price one gets a more powerful engine with improved performance.

If you compare the features with the regular variant, the only difference is the presence of sporty 1.0 decal on the side of the car. The car also gets a new larger outside rear view mirrors that are finished in silver. The interiors are almost the same with the same dual tone cabin with fabric upholstery, a touch screen entertainment pack with digital instrument bundle. Coming to the safety aspects, the car gets option driver airbags.

The car could be launched with the Easy-R AMT transmission during the coming Diwali festive period. The KWID 1.0 SCe gives a mileage of 23.01 km. It will rub shoulders Hyundai Eon 1.0 and the Maruti Alto K10. The car is bold and stylish with its SUV characteristic and could be dubbed as the best looking car in this segment. Other cars in the same league like the Alto K10 are roomier but cannot match the chic look of the Kwid. The Eon from Hyundai is more pocket-friendly and is smaller which the manufacturer claims makes it much easier to maneuver.
