Quantum Zero SmartQ QC 3.0 Charger Review: A good alternative to the OEM chargers!

Quantum Zero, a leading brand for quality accessories for smartphones and desktops released SmartQ QC 3.0 wall charger for smartphones and tablets. This charger is Quick Charge 3.0 enabled, and Quantum Zero claims that it charges the smartphones four times faster than a regular charger. This SmartQ charger supports the smartphones and devices which come with QC 3.0 capability. We are going to test this charger with the Dash charger from OnePlus specially made for OnePlus 3 and 3T.

The SmartQ charger came in a nice slide out packaging with a quick welcome/setup guide and feedback card. There is no USB cable provided inside the box; we had to use our own USB cable for charging. The design of the charger is a lot similar to the Samsung fast charger, just the USB port is placed on the back instead of the side. The charger has two prongs which are thin making it loose in wall power socket but fits perfectly in power strip.

  • Power: 18 W
  • Input: AC 100 – 240V

SmartQ Charger comes with Quick Charge 3.0 technology which can charge compatible smartphones four times faster than a regular charger. With SmartQ technology, it can also charge non QC compatible smartphones up to 2.4A. It is also backward compatible with smartphones with Quick Charge 2.0 or 1.0 technology. With its built in safeguards, it protects the devices against over current, overcharging and overheating.

To test it for performance, we decided to make it compete with the Dash charger which is the fastest charger ever built for OnePlus 3 and 3T and a regular fast charger with 2.1 A power rating. We are charging OnePlus 3T with 3400 mAh battery, we used each charger to charge the smartphone for 30 minutes and recorded the result.

SmartQ

(5V – 2.4A , 9V – 2A)

Dash

OnePlus 3T (3400 mAh) 31% 52% 25%
Windows Tablet (7700 mAh) 10% 15% 10%

Verdict

We found that the SmartQ charger is definitely better than Quick Charge 2.0 but not better than the Dash charger from OnePlus. The charger with QC 2.0 charged the device almost like this charger when it comes to a bigger battery in a tablet while Dash charger is still the winner here. If you ask me to suggest you this charger, then I’ll say that this charger is for you only if you damaged or lost your regular charger and want to buy a new one. SmartQ charger is available for Rs. 595 on Amazon and the Quantum Zero online store.
