Patna makes use of Google’s free Wi-Fi at railway station to search Porn, mostly

The Patna Railway Station tops the chart for using the internet via the free Wi-Fi services but for an interesting reason. Most of the users use the service to view porn.

An official from RailTel, a PSU said that Patna Railway Station tops internet use among all the other stations in the country. The free Wi-Fi service was recently launched at Patna Railway Station. However, most of the searches have been for watching Porn sites. Jaipur station was a close second followed by Bangalore and New Delhi. Patna Railway Station comes under the Danapur Division of the East Central Railway and is the first station in Bihar to have this facility.  More than 200 trains pass through the station every day.

Most of the people in Patna station use the Wi-Fi to search on YouTube or Wikipedia. More than anything else, porn sites have been watched and downloaded at the station. People also use the service to download apps and films from Bollywood and Hollywood. RailTel which is providing the free Wi-Fi services is offering 1 GB of free data, and there are plans to increase it to 10 GB because of the slow internet speed caused by an innumerable number of users.

Free Wi-Fi services have been launched in more than 23 railway stations across the country. The Government plans to introduce the services across all major Railway Stations across the country in the coming three years. Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu said that by the year end free Wi-Fi services would be launched in 100 stations, and the target is to provide these services across 400 major stations in three years. The service has been provided under ‘Railwire’, which is the retail broadband arm of RailTel.

Meanwhile Google CEO, Mr Pichai has said that free Wi-Fi at major 19 Railway Stations across the country has brought more than 1.5 million Indian online.
