Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro Review: Good Camera and Battery Performance

Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro

Panasonic launched a new smartphone in its Eluga series; Eluga A3 Pro with 4000 mAh battery. The Eluga A3 Pro comes with the 13MP rear camera and 8MP front facing selfie camera. The smartphone also comes with a 4000 mAh huge battery and Panasonic ARBO assistant built in. The Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro is available for Rs 12,495 on Flipkart to buy online, it comes in Gray, Gold and Mocha Gold.

Unboxing and Design

This is the first budget smartphone I have seen with a beautiful packaging, not just an ordinary box. It comes in a box with a magnetic flap to open it, the first thing is the smartphone, under which is the documents. Below all that are the accessories inside separate boxes; the charging brick, the charging, and data sync cable and the earphones. The box also includes a screen protector for the smartphone and a SIM tray ejector tool.

Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro looks exactly like the Eluga A3, which Panasonic released previously. It has a beautiful basic smartphone design with a front mounted fingerprint sensor, it is clickable and works as a home button. The navigation bar is software based, the fingerprint sensor works only as the home buttons and to unlock the smartphone. The back panel is aluminum, but the top and bottom cap are made of plastic with the same finish all over.

The edges of the smartphone have a beautiful and smooth finish; the top edge has the 3.5 mm audio port, on the right are the power and volume rocker buttons, the SIM card tray slot is on the left side, and the micro USB port is at the bottom edge. The back has the camera module, flash, branding, and the loudspeaker grill. The phone also comes with a notification LED above the display.

Display and Features

The display of Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro is a perfect size, 5.2 inches with HD resolution (1280×720). Can play up to Full HD content without any problem and it looks perfect on that display. The brightness of this display is not enough for using it outdoor under the sun, but it didn’t disappoint at any other criteria. Panasonic Eluga A3 pro comes with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front under the display.

The sensor also works as the home button, but there are no back or recent apps button. The phone got the soft keys to navigate through the OS, but the clickable fingerprint sensor can do more. Like if you want to launch the recent apps menu, tap the button twice. To come back to home screen tap it once and to start the Google assistant, hold it for few seconds. The fingerprint sensor also comes with a gesture to launch any app right after unlocking the smartphone using the fingerprint or the security PIN.

ARBO is Panasonic’s own AI assistant comes pre built in Panasonic smartphones which are basically an assistant which learns your daily activity and suggest your actions according to that. It can learn when you leave your workplace and advise you to order a cab if you take a cab home. It can suggest you order food when it is the lunch time. It learns from your daily tasks on the smartphone.

ARBO is an app which you have to launch from the app drawer; there is no other option to trigger the ARBO anytime. You can add a shortcut to ARBO on your home screen so that you can launch it anytime you want.

Camera

The camera in Eluga A3 Pro is a 13MP shooter with dual LED dual tone flash and at the front, it got the 8 MP shooter. The camera app is very basic with only three modes; Normal, Panorama and Picture in picture mode. The pictures captured by the camera are sharp and has lots of detail in it, everything looks clear even in the low or artificial light.

The videos captured by this camera is also good, the phone can capture Full HD videos at 30 frames per second. The selfies from the front camera are also good. The camera part of the smartphone is overall amazing and worth the price of the smartphone. The only issue with the camera is the camera app which could have been better.

Performance

The performance part of the smartphone is good, but I expected a better performance as it comes with the vanilla Android experience. There are not much customization done to the Android system but the one done are useful. It comes with some settings like MiraVision which is basically to soothes the display’s contrast or make it pop out. There is also a DuraSpeed setting which makes the current app work even better by turning off the background apps and services.

The ARBO is brand’s official AI which is basically a suggestion giving assistant according to your daily apps usage. The AI automatically detects that which app you use at what time and suggest you the apps at the same time next time. The ARBO sits in the app drawer, and you have to connect your Google ID with to activate it. Once configured, it pops up automatically every time you unlock your phone using the fingerprint.or the PIN code.

Pros

  • Nice metal build
  • Good camera performance

Cons

  • Fingerprint sensor shows a bit delay
  • Performance is mediocre

Verdict

The Panasonic Eluga A3 Pro is a good smartphone at the price of Rs 12,495 and the smartphone as its own pros and cons. The smartphone defines every single penny you spend on this smartphone. Especially, the camera and battery performance, the best part of this smartphone.
