OxygenOS 5.0.3 update brings Face Unlock feature for the OnePlus 3 and 3T

OXYGENOS 5.0.3

OnePlus has started pushing the new OxygenOS 5.0.3 incremental update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices. The new update brings a slew of improvements and much-awaited features, along with the latest security updates Google released this month with the May 2018 Android Security Patch.

To begin with, the new update brings the Face Unlock feature that will allow OnePlus 3 and 3T users to unlock the device with their face. The feature is essentially similar to the Face ID functionality found on the iPhone X, and was also introduced with the OnePlus 5T. Now, OnePlus 3 and 3T users can finally unlock their devices using Face Unlock.

Elsewhere, Oxygen OS 5.0.3 brings a revamped Shelf UI design for the launcher, along with redesigned App shortcuts, as well as support for additional options when long-pressing an icon. Also, the new update brings several refinements in the Gallery app. These include the new ‘Recently Deleted’ collection, support for sharing photos to Shot-On-OnePlus, along with the ability view images on the Map, segregated by Location.

Besides, the Weather app also gets a minor overhaul with a new widget for the launcher, improved location positioning accuracy, as well as faster refresh intervals for displaying latest weather forecast. Finally, Oxygen OS 5.0.3 also adds a new feature in the File Manager called ‘Large Files’.

As is usually the case with OTA updates, the update will be rolled out in phases. A small percentage of users will shortly get the update, while a broader rollout is expected to begin in the next few days. Users can also manually check for the update by heading over to Settings> System Updates
