OnePlus starts rolling out the latest OxygenOS 4.7.6 update for its OnePlus 5T flagship. The new update will be available via the OTA route, and brings a slew of new features such as assistive lightning, Android’s December security patch, as well as several improvements and bug fixes.

One of the notable features included in OxygenOS 4.7.6 is addition of assistive lighting for the preloaded face unlock feature. The feature essentially improves upon the facial recognition technology found on the OnePlus 5T. Users can activate the feature by heading over to Face Unlock Settings where they’ll stumble upon a new option called Face Unlock Assistive Lighting. Once the feature is enabled, it essentially makes the screen brighter to help easily unlock the device even in low-light conditions.

Elsewhere, the new OxygenOS 4.7.6 update also brings several bug fixes and performance improvements. As per the official changelog. the new update brings improved selfie camera performance in low-light environments, as well as performance improvements for third party camera apps. You can check out the complete changelog below:

Clarity improvements for selfie in low light
Performance improvements for 3rd party camera apps

Added assistive lighting for face unlock

Improvements for Wi-Fi display
Updated Android security patch to December

As is the usually the case with OTA updates, not all OnePlus users would get the update as its being rolled out in phases. Hence, you’ll have to wait just a little longer before the update finally arrives on your OnePlus 5T handset. Users can also manually check for the update by heading over to Settings> System Updates.

OnePlus has already upgraded its previous flagships which include the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, and OnePlus 5 with Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS. The OnePlus 5T, however, still runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Though worry not as the handset is due for an Oreo upgrade early next year.
