Oppo K3 launched with Snapdragon 710, In-display FP and 16MP Pop-up Selfie Camera

OPPO has now officially announced the OPPO K3 smartphone at an event in China. As a successor to the last year’s OPPO K1, the handset offers powerful Snapdragon 710 SoC, a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera.

OPPO K3: Specifications and Features

As for the specs, OPPO K3 gets a massive 6.5-inch OLED display. The panel offers a full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It also incorporates other features such as DC dimming, Always-on Display and stroboscopic eye protection. The screen of the phone is integrated with a 6th-generation in-display fingerprint scanner and aids for an impressive screen to body ratio of 91%.

OPPO K3 is powered by Snapdragon 710 AIE chipset at its core. It’s further coupled with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The phone also packs a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion.

In the camera department, the OPPO K3 flaunts a dual camera setup at the rear. The module comprises of a 16-megapixel primary sensor, coupled with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Nifty features like dual LED flash, AI Portrait Mode, AI scene detection, Ultra Clear Night View 2.0, handheld night scene mode and multi-frame noise reduction technology are present onboard.

For selfies, we have a motorised 16-megapixel camera that will automatically pop-up from the top edge of the device whenever required.

On the software front, the Oppo K3 boots Android 9 Pie OS flavoured with company’s own ColorOS 6.0. OPPO’s own system optimisation features are also included on the phone.

The GameBoost 2.0 feature aids an accelerated GPU performance for a smoother gaming experience. Furthermore, FrameBoost helps in allocating system resources according to the requirements of specific game resources. Whereas, the LinkBoost 2.0 helps in bringing enhanced network performance on the smartphone. Lastly, TouchBoost assists in an improved response of the touchscreen.

All of this is backed by a 3,765mAh battery that carries support for 20W rapid charging through OPPO’s VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology.

Price, Availability

The base variant of OPPO K3 with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage starts at 1,599 Yuan (roughly Rs. 16,100). Whereas the 6GB RAM and 128 GB model is priced at 1,899 Yuan (about Rs. 19,100). On the other hand, the top-end model with 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage is pitted at 2,299 Yuan (roughly Rs. 23,200).

The pre-sales of the phone have already started in China through OPPO’s online store besides other online retail partner sites. One can buy the phone in three colour options including Nebula Purple, Morning White and Farm Black. Although the company is yet to comment on anything, we expect the India launch soon.
