Chinese manufacturer Oppo has launched a new mid range smartphone in India, the Oppo A83. Priced at Rs. 13,999, the handset goes on sale in India starting on the 20th of January, and will be available on Amazon India, Flipkart as well as physical stores. The company touts that Oppo A83’s design is inspired by the compnay’s UFO Curve Design concept. The handset features very thin bezels which means uers get more screen real estate.

In terms of specs, the Oppo A83 gets a 5.7-inch HD+LCD display having an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood, the smartphone gets powered by MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763T ocat-core processor bundled with a chunky 4GB of RAM. The device offers 32GB of built-in storage which is further expanadble to up to 256GB via a microSD slot.

In the photography department, the Oppo A83 features a 13MP primary camera bundled with an LED flash. In addition, the handset’s primry camera also supports Ultra-HD mode that can deliver an image having a 50MP resolution.

For selfies, the handset gets an 8MP front-facing shooter. The handset also ships with Oppo’s proprietory AI beauty recognition technology which the company claims improves the quality of selfies as well as group shots. Not to mention, the phone’s selfie cam also supports facial recognition. The company asserts that the handset’s front camera can recognise over 200 facial points and also idenetifies skin color, texture, age, and gender.

As far as OS goes, the Oppo A83 runs Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with the company’s ColorOS 3.2 skin on top. Coonectivity features on the handset inlcude a dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Juicing up the Oppo A83 is a 3180mAh battery. The device will be availbale in Black and Gold colour options.
