According to the latest report from the London Based Internet firm; OpenSignal who suggests that Reliance Jio offers the slowest 4G LTE speeds in India with an average speed of 3.9Mbps. This report was based on the evaluation of the quality of network and coverage intensity of Telecom company. However, the report also claims that the Reliance Jio’s performance in optimal conditions stands at an average peak speed of 50 Mbps.
Further, the evaluation was based on the speed test conducted on 93,464 users between the period December 2016 and February 2017. According to the report, Jio peak speed is 50 Mbps, average speed on Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea are 56.9Mbps, 36.5Mbps, and 29.8Mbps respectively.
The OpenSignal analyst Kevin Fitchard said: “We collected availability, speed and latency data from all of those users, but for the peak speed analysis we focused only on the devices that conducted multiple speed tests over the three month period. We then took the best 4G speed test from each device. Of those top speed tests, we took the top (fastest) 5 percent and averaged the results for each operator. The resulting number was the average peak speed metric.”
The report also suggests that the reason behind the Reliance Jio customers not able to avail the peak speed is may be due to the humongous amount of data consumption on its network. According to the TRAI June report, The Reliance Jio has the fastest 4G download speed from January to May in India according to the reports from TRAI. Reliance Jio download speed in May/June was 18.809Mbps, followed by Vodafone (12.297Mbps), Idea (11.685Mbps), and Airtel (8.233Mbps). While the top upload speed crown goes to Idea Cellular which remains fastest at 7.552Mbps.
