OnePlus to launch OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 5G this time!

OnePlus 7

OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its upcoming OnePlus 7 flagship smartphone. However, going by the latest reports, the company will be launching three smartphones this time. The OnePlus 7 lineup will reportedly comprise of the regular OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G models.

Notably, the OnePlus 7 Pro will come with better features than the regular model. On the other hand, the 5G model will carry on the same specs while adding the support for 5G connectivity, thanks to Qualcomm’s built-in X50 modem. That said, all the three models are said to ship with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chip and Oxygen OS based on Android 9 Pie.

OnePlus 7 Pro Specifications (Leaked)

Lately, the OnePlus 7 Pro was seen with the model number GM1915, running on Snapdragon 855 SoC with a whopping 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Additionally, the device will bear a 6.67-inch AMOLED notchless display with curved edges. The chin is quite small, and the front cameras are expected to be placed inside a pop-up module. The standard model, on the other hand, is tipped to arrive with a 6.5″ Full-HD+ display.

Coming to the cameras, the Pro model is said to get triple shooters at the back. The module will comprise a 48-megapixel primary camera, 16-megapixel secondary sensor and an 8-megapixel depth shooter.

Leaked OnePlus 7 Pro poster

OnePlus 7 PRo

Recently, a new poster leak surfaced online, confirming the presence of OnePlus 7 Pro. The poster, mainly, focusses on the camera and reveals the tagline of the series.

To recall, the tag line for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T was “The Speed You Need” and “Unlock The Speed” respectively. Whereas, the expensive OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition got even more with “Salute to Speed”. For the upcoming next-gen line-up, OnePlus has chosen to go with “Go Beyond Speed” tagline. There is also a text on the poster that teases the phone’s camera, but nothing critical is mentioned.

What else to expect?

The previously leaked renders suggest an absence of any physical fingerprint scanner on the device. Thus, its quite evident that all the three models will carry on the predecessors legacy with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

While the regular model may arrive with an optical in-display solution, we can expect an ultrasonic in-display scanner on higher models. However, it’s too early to speculate as we don’t have any reliable reports concerning it.

Also, the OnePlus seven is likely to have a large 4,000mAh battery with 44W Dash Charging support- an improvement of the 3,700mAh cell on 6T and 30W Warp Charge on McLaren edition. Lastly, as confirmed, the company will keep away from launching any folding smartphones as of now. Hence, it’ll be too early to expect the folding mechanism in OnePlus 7.

OnePlus in 2019: the Samsung strategy

With the launch of these three models, OnePlus seems to be following the steps of the smartphone giant Samsung. The latter launched four smartphones including Galaxy S10e, standard S10, S10+ and the S10 5G.

Similarly, the OnePlus Pro will bring a bunch of extra perks compared to the standard variant, just like the S10+ did over the S10. Moreover, all three options will be priced accordingly. The OnePlus seven will be the cheapest of all. It’ll be followed by a slightly expensive 7 Pro and the top-end 7 Pro 5G version.

If you notice carefully, OnePlus seems to stretch a bit more from the budget flagship category. The company appears to focus on the entry-premium segment with future intentions to compete with Samsung, Apple and Google. That said, let’s wait for the launch to see what OnePlus has been cooking exactly.
