The Mobile World Congress did not see any releases from OnePlus, but the company seems to be gearing up to launch the OnePlus 5. Known for its flagship killer smartphones, the Chinese company may have skipped with the name ‘OnePlus 4’ because the number ‘4’ is considered unlucky in China.
The managing editor of Android Police had tweeted saying that OnePlus may have a dark announcement soon. He could well be hinting on the colour of the phone (midnight dark).

A report from Gizmo China also suggested that the OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The processor features in Samsungs elite flagships Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Considering OnePlus’ reputation, the price of the device will be marked far below than Samsung’s flagships.
Taking another leaf from the Galaxy S8, the smartphone could have dual curved sides. Other features may include a 5.5-inch WQHD display, 8GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 3,000/4,000 mAh battery. Apart from this, following up from its previous OnePlus X, the phone may have a ceramic back.
Said to run on Android 7.0 nougat, this one could have a 23MP primary camera and 16MP secondary camera. Keeping up with the tradition, it will have a USB Type C port and a fast charger.
In a market where prices are primely competitive, OnePlus has excelled killing most of its competition. This leads us to the conclusion that the OnePlus could be priced between 4400 and $500.
As far as the launch date is concerned, with the likes of S8 and LG G6 lurking right around the corner, we can expect this one to show its face very soon (around June).
