It’s official! OnePlus 3 and 3T get OxygenOS 4.0 (Android Nougat) OTA update

OnePlus has made the New Year sweeter for its fans by rollign out Android 7.0 Nougat based OxygenOS 4.0 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T users. As promised, the update started rolling out by 2016 end with users getting notification at around 2PM on December 31.

OnePlus Product Manger for OxygenOS addressed on the OnePlus forum page, “We are starting the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 4.0 (N) for the OnePlus 3 and 3T… The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we’ll begin a broader rollout in a few days.” It seems to be a global update for the recent handsets, which will slowly hit all smartphones. Users can report about any bug in the update on bug reporting forum https://forums.oneplus.net/feedback/.

How to update OnePlus 3/3T:

You must have got a notification by now if the update is ready for your device. If not, go to Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates and the OxygenOS 4.0 should appear on your handset. Click on update now and it will start downloading.

Let’s talk about the changelog that the incremental upgrade will bring. With this upgrade, users will come across Status Bar Icon options, Quick Launch for 3rd Party applications, Improved Shelf Customization like features. Besides, you will also see new Notifications design, Settings Menu design, and an option to reply directly through notifications without opening the app. Now one can run two apps simultaneously with the multi-window support. Moreover, Custom DPI support comes with the OxygenOS 4.0 update.

Both OnePlus 3 and 3T launched in 2016 and scored to the list of best selling smartphones of 2016. Both the smartphones have almost similar specifications and differ only in processor, front camera and battery capacity. OnePlus 3T comes with Snapdragon 821 processor, 16MP front camera with Samsung 3P8SP sensor and 3400mAh battery as compared to 3000mAh on OnePlus 3.
