Report: Nokia leads the Windows Phone market

If anyone thought that the Nokia’s grip over the cellular platform ever since it’s tie-up with Microsoft for launching the Windows Phones was hypothetical, the latest report by AdDuplex establishes the hypothesis.

According to the AdDuplex report for November 2013, Nokia dominates the platform with its 90% market share. The Finnish mobile phone maker is followed by HTC at 7%, Samsung at 1.8%, and Huawei at 1.3% of the market share.

The report based on the data collected from 2,087 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2 elucidated: “It’s undeniable that Nokia “owns” Windows Phone device market and it has reached a new milestone this month. 9 out of 10 Windows Phone 8 devices in use are made by Nokia.” Furthermore, the report disclosed that the budget smartphone from Nokia, the Lumia 520 has been the most popular Windows phone with an impressive 26.5% global market share. Remarkably, the recently launched Nokia phablet, Lumia 1520 stands at the nineteenth position on the Windows Phone 8 chart.

Coming to the Indian market scenario, the report shows the Lumia 520 leading the chart with 43.4% market share, followed by Lumia 720 with 12.7%. The other countries covered in the report besides India are Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Mexico, Vietnam, the US, as well as the UK.

Other than these,, the report also reflects Windows Phone 7’s market share of 24.7%, as well as Windows Phone 8’s share of  75.3 %. “3 out of 4 Windows Phones out there run Windows Phone 8 now,” the report states.

Meanwhile, based on the report, we can say that Nokia’s strategy of pushing the Lumia smartphones into various price categories has really worked well for the company in terms of leading the global Windows Phone market share.
