Nokia 7 set for a global launch early next year

HMD Global, the Finnish manufacturer who now has the rights to sell Nokia-branded handsets recently launched the Nokia 7 in China. Now, it appears the company is gearing up for the handset’s launch in other global markets as well.

According to a report by GizmoChina, HMD Global is expected to launch the Nokia 7 globally in early 2018. The Finnish manufacturer is hosting an event on January 19th where it is likely to announce the Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 handsets. Reports indicate that the company could also unveil the Nokia 7 at the same event.

That being said, sources also suggest that HMD Global is yet to officially confirm the January 19th launch event.

To recall, Nokia 7 was recently launched in China. The 4GB RAM model was priced at CNY 2499, while its 6GB RAM variant was priced at CNY 2699. The handset features a premium design thanks to the use of series 7000 aluminium with diamond-cut bevelled edges.

As far as specs are concerned, the Nokia 7 features a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, the handset gets powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, bundled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM depending upon the model.

In the camera department, the Nokia 7 features a 16MP Carl Zeiss primary camera, and a 5MP secondary snapper on the front. The Nokia 7 also comes with a Bothie feature, just like the Nokia 8. This is a primarily dual-camera mode that allows users to take both pictures and videos using its front and back cameras simultaneously. The feature can be activated with a single tap touch and advertised to offer a more engaging experience while live streaming on YouTube and Facebook.

Connectivity options on the Nokia 7 include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C and GPS. The device comes with Nokia OZO Audio enhancements as well. A 3,000mAh battery completes the list of its specifications.
