Motorola Moto G4 Play tipped to launch in India soon at Rs. 8999

Motorola’s upcoming smartphone the Moto G4 Play has appeared on import/export tracking site Zauba, implying that the smartphone might soon be launched in India. The smartphone was reportedly listed as the XT 1607 and is expected to launch in India for Rs. 8,999.

The document further revealed that the smartphone coming to India will feature 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage as there is also a 1GB RAM version of the device which gets 8GB of storage.

Back in May, Lenovo-owned Motorola officially announced the Moto G4 Play as a part of the company’s new Moto G4 lineup. The company also confirmed that the smartphone will be available for purchase during mid-summer 2016, though did not mention an exact launch date nor did they reveal any pricing details. However, both the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are launching in the US on July 12, so we can expect the Moto G4 Play to launch in India sometime during this period.

Key specifications of the Moto G4 Play include a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 410 processor bundled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU, an  8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. It will offer 16GB of on-board storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD slot. Juicing up the smartphone would be a 2,800mAh battery which the company claims can offer one full day of usage.

The smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out-of-the-box. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers Bluetooth version 4.1 LE and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz).

Just like last-generation Moto G devices, the Moto G4 Play is also equipped with a ‘water-repellent’ nano coating that shields the device from accidental splashes of water. Though it does not get the water resistant IP rating like it’s predecessors.

Moto G4 Play will be available in White and Black color options. The company is also offering two years of free storage at original quality on Google Photos.
