Moto and Nexus phones receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update in India

The Motorola Moto X 2014 edition becomes the latest phone to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop updates in India. The Moto X becomes the first device to get this update besides the Nexus line of devices. LG G3 users can also manually download Android Lollipop update for their phones.

Motorola will also bundle some exclusive features and functionality changes for its Moto X (2nd Gen), including the new Interruption and Downtime settings. The new settings update will allow users to decide which contacts and notifications can get through based on the time. In addition, the company also announced to roll out the Android Lollipop update for its other devices in India.

The Android Lollipop update enhances battery life, security, and camera performance with burst mode and fine settings tuning. The updated Quick Settings also enable handy controls such as hotspot, flashlight, screen rotation, and cast screen controls.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop also hit headlines following several reports pointing to multiple bugs in the final release. Many users reported app switcher bug, Wi-Fi bug, SMS bug and flashlight, bug affecting Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 users. Users also reported frequent restart of apps in the background and impaired manual account sync button in settings.

Google already rolled out the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop updates for its Nexus 4and Nexus 5 phones in India. The OTA update description mentioned that the update will improve the performance and stability of these phones and will also fix bugs.

Google also updated its Nexus 7 2012 WiFi edition with a device specific Android 5.0.2 as the device failed to receive the incremental update with Android 5.0.1. The latest update fixes a number of issues specifically encountered by the Nexus 7 users, including an issue with the tablet’s storage and alarm on the device.
