Lenovo-owned Motorola has announced the latest Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones at MWC 2017. As expected, the new Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones get some design upgrades with a metal chassis.
The Moto G5 Plus comes with a 5.2-inch display while the Moto G5 features a 5-inch screen. Both devices pack Full HD displays with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
However, both devices come with different processors compared to last year’s model. The Moto G5 gets powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor while the Moto G5 Plus runs a Snapdragon 625 processor.
Both devices come in different RAM and storage configurations. The standard Moto G5 comes in either 2GB RAM/16GB built-in storage or 3GBRAM/32GB built-in storage. The Moto G5 Plus comes in 3GB RAM/32GB built-in storage and 4GB RAM/64GB built-in storage options. Also, both devices support microSD expandability of up to 128GB.
As far as cameras are concerned, the Moto G5 comes with a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. The Moto G5 Plus comes with a more advanced 12MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and dual-focus pixels. For selfies, both smartphones come with a 5MP front-facing shooter.
Juicing up the Moto G5 is a 2800mAh battery, while the larger Moto G5 Plus comes with a 3000mAh battery. In terms of OS, both smartphones run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Last but not the least, both smartphones come equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Lenovo has announced global prices of both these devices. The Moto G5 will start at EUR 199 for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant, and the Moto G5 Plus will be priced at $229 for the 2GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant, and EUR 279 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option. The price of the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant of the Moto G5 Plus remains unknown.
