Mahindra TUV300 compact SUV launched, price starting at 6.90 lakhs

Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. (NASDAQ:MAHMF) on Thursday added a new compact SUV to its portfolio of utility vehicles, with the launch of new and compact SUV “Mahindra TUV300”. The new TUV300 is priced at Rs. 6.90 lakhs for an entry level and rising up to Rs. 9.10 lakhs for its top version T8 AMT, which offers auto gear shift technology.

M&M took almost four years and invested around 1,200 crores in the development of this new utility vehicle. Mahindra TUV300 stands for ‘Tough Utility Vehicle’, which is inspired by the design of a battle tank, to give it a tough and stylish look.

The new compact SUV, Mahindra TUV300 will be facing tough competition from Ford’s Ecosport, Nissan’s Terrano and Renault’s Duster.

The TUV300 features mHawk80 1.5-litre diesel engine, with 2-stage turbocharger for developing 230Nm torque and 84 Bhp (61.5KW) power. It is also the first SUV to possess auto gear shift or automated manual transmission, which is available for top variants of Mahindra TUV300.

Mahindra TUV300 is packed with sporty alloy wheels, static bending headlamps, imposing bumpers, stylish ski racks and high ground clearance.

It offers a finest beige and black interiors, with hexagonal centre bezel, metal accents, sporty twin-pod instrument cluster, steering-mounted phone and audio controls, piano black centre fascia and 2-DIN infotainment system with large touch screen.

Besides interior, the car also offers better connectivity using USB-port, Bluetooth and AUX-in. It also has ECO Mode, which provide substantial mileage benefit.

The new Mahindra comes with a high-strength steel body, hydro-formed crush tips, corner brake control, dual airbags and strong side intrusion beams for all-around protection.

It is also equipped with high-tech features like brake energy regeneration, static-bending headlamps, voice messaging system (VMS), micro-hybrid technology, intellipark reverse assist and Mahindra’s BlueSense mobile app. The SUV also possesses power windows and centre console LCD display with a polygonal cluster.

Chairperson of Mahindra group, Anand Mahindra, said at the launch, “We are confident that TUV300 will be our brand creator, with its tough and rugged look.”
