Microsoft Surface AIO release date: Expected during Windows 10 event on October 26

Microsoft Surface AIO codenamed “Cardinal” is expected to launch during the upcoming Windows 10 event on October 26 at 10 AM EDT (7.30PM IST) in New York. The Redmond-based company has already sent out media invitations for the event in New York on October 26, which will be live-streamed on the web. The invite reveals the fact “What’s next for Windows 10“, which signals the arrival of the new Surface desktop.

According to reports, the launch event is expected to be the company’s biggest launch event of 2016. There are reports which confirm the fact that the company will launch a new Surface all in one PC, which is touted to compete with its rival Apple iMac.

Previously, Microsoft has indicated the fact that the event will be all about the next chapter in the era of Windows 10 computing. In addition to software-centric announcements and incremental updates to features in the existing Windows 10 anniversary edition, Microsoft is expected to showcase an all-in-one (AIO) PC under its Surface brand.

Arrival of Surface AIO rumored in July 2016

The arrival of the Surface all-in-one was initially rumored in July when an India-based software developer tweeted images of a hall in Microsoft headquarters filled with the forthcoming Surface gadgets. We had spotted Surface tablets and AIOs among all the images on the wall.

New Surface AIO will ship in three display sizes

As per reports coming in, the new Surface AIO will be codenamed as Cardinal and will be available in 21, 24 and 27-inches respectively. According to rumors, the software giant will unveil Surface AIOs in all three display sizes. However, only one AIO will be showcased to the audience.

As of writing this, we don’t have any information about the specifications of the alleged Surface AIO PC. However, we expect something to emerge when the event date closely approaches. In all probability, the new Surface AIO will provide support for up to 4K display.

Microsoft had postponed the launch of the second-generation Surface Book to Q1 2017. Going by the past trends, it should have been launched before Q2 2016. According to industry analysts, Microsoft is gearing up to launch the Surface AIO PC to offset the deficit.

Intel Kaby Lake delayed the release of new Surface Book

The main reason for the delay in the launch of new Surface Book was attributed to the unavailability of the Intel Kaby Lake processor. Since Intel has started to provide the CPU’s to manufacturers, we can expect the launch soon. We have seen companies like Dell, HP and Lenovo have started to release new laptops with Intel 7th generation processors.

If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft is working hard to launch Surface Phone with Intel Kaby Lake processor in early 2017. There are reports that the Surface Phone will ship with 8GB RAM and internal storage up to 256GB. You can expect 4GB RAM variant in the budget segment.
