Microsoft Lumia 550 Windows 10 for mobile now available, priced at $139 USD

Microsoft’s most affordable 4G LTE Lumia 550 smartphone with Windows 10 is now available for $139 USD in select markets starting today. The Lumia 550 sales have currently started taking place in Europe. However, the device will soon be expanded to other markets.

Lumia 550 is company’s third Windows 10 smartphone, following the debut of 950 XL and Lumia 950.

Boasting a 4.7″ HD display, Lumia 550 is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm SoC and 1 GB of RAM.

Lumia 550’s internal storage capacity of 8GB can be expanded up to 200 GB with the help of a microSD card. It has a 2-megapixel front camera as well as a 5-megapixel rear camera, offering features such as touch focus, geotagging and manual/auto exposure.

There is a Glance screen on the phone; wherein you would see the calendar appointments, notifications, time, and date, displayed in standby mode. A removable 2100mAh battery promises to deliver 28 days of standby time.

With support for 4G LTE, Lumia 550 works with a download speed of up to 150Mbps. Few other connectivity options include A-GPS, FM radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.1.

However, as compared to Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL, Lumia 550 is missing two essential features: Windows 10 Continuum and the Windows Hello biometric recognition.

As a result, you can neither use fingerprint or face for unlocking the phone nor set up a Display dock with keyboard, mouse or monitor for using the phone as a PC replacement.

You can avail the Lumia 550 in a glossy white and matte black color variants.
