Maruti Suzuki introduces India’s first Smart Hybrid sedan Ciaz SHVS at Rs 8.23 lakhs

Indian automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MARUTI) has launched India’s first Smart Hybrid diesel car “Ciaz SHVS” with a starting price of Rs. 8.23 lakhs. The new model of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS is equipped with modern technologies and will be available in a diesel variant powered by 1.3-litre engine.

The Brand new mid-sized sedan, Ciaz SHVS is similar to regular Ciaz. But, SHVS include additional features of micro-hybrid technology like stop-start technology, engine power assist system, brake energy recuperation, and additional light on an instrumental cluster of a car.

Beside this, some additional micro-hybrid technology and an integration of most exciting and tempting feature add beauty to it. Ciaz SHVS is the fact that it is India’s most fuel efficient car with a mileage of 28.09 kmpl, certified by an ARAI.

The new stop-start technology of Ciaz SHVS allows the engine to turn off when a car is stationary at a traffic signal or any place for few seconds. This is a significant feature for people living in metro cities of India.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Hybrid is equipped with brake energy recuperation, which convert wasted energy used in deceleration into electric storage of car.

Ciaz SHVS is priced between Rs. 8.27 lakhs to Rs. 10.17 lakhs, which makes Ciaz SHVS around Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 23,500 cheaper than the diesel version of regular Ciaz, it is replacing.

As announced in the Union Budget 2015, excise duty on hybrid vehicles is reduced from 24% to 12.5% with an additional subsidy of Rs. 13,000 by the Indian Government. Reduced price of a hybrid car is courtesy of Indian Government FAME policy launched in April, 2015.

“We are attempting something new today, but we are confident of its success. Ciaz SHVS is more fuel efficient car without burdening the pocket of customers. In times to come, we will be using same technology in our others car as well,” CV Raman, Executive Director of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSLI) said to media on Ciaz SHVS launch in Delhi.
