India’s leading utility vehicle maker – Mahindra has launched a 9seater variant of the Xylo MPV called the Xylo D2 Maxx. The vehicle eyes mainly at fleet operators that ferry passengers, daily.

Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer, automotive division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said,

The Xylo D2 MAXX with the mDI CRDe engine is a variant of the Xylo, which delivers great mileage, low maintenance and maximum space, making it a very popular choice with the tour and travel segment. Today, we are delighted to offer our customers the 9 seats option with side-facing rear seats – a feature preferred by the tour and travel segment. Given that the Xylo has best-in-class space, the side facing seats will provide a great deal of flexibility for carrying people or luggage.

Xylo D2 MAXX as the four-wheeler vehicle is named comes with the new look front grille and new bumper with air dams that gives it a new touch. It is powered by a 2.5 liter mDI CRDe engine producing 95 PS power and 220 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission that turns the rear wheels. The vehicle has a claimed fuel economy figure of 14.95 kmpl.

Besides, the Xylo D2′s mDI CRDe engine is equipped with both DI and CRDe technology that company claims results in low maintenance costs along with less emissions and NVH levels. The automaker plans to sell the vehicle solely in the commercial sector where demand for such kind of vehicles is very high. Deliveries will start immediately pan India.

The nine-seater car from Mahindra which happens to be the new entrant will directly compete with the likes of Nissan Evalia and Ashok Leyland’s recently launched Stile. Stile that was eyeing the market share earlier will lose a part in the commercial segment to XyloD2 max, for sure. The car’s rear seats are side facing. Evalia on the other hand has more space but the van like appearance of it might not appeal to everyone. Here, therefore, Xylo D2 stands a chance.
