Lenovo Phab 2 Pro Project Tango smartphone set to launch next month

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro will launch on November 1 at $200 (Rs. 13,376) in the United States. According to sources, the Phab 2 Pro is the first commercial Project Tango smartphone manufactured in partnership with Google.

Previously, Lenovo had unveiled the smartphone without announcing the launch date. The phone is currently available for pre-order on the official website of Lenovo US. As of writing this, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is currently listed under the Phab 2’s product page tagged with “Coming Soon. Available November 1.”

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro offers 3D imaging technology

The USP of Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the integration of Google’s Tango 3D imaging technology. Moreover, the phone features a Dolby Atmos including Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 technology. While the rear camera features a 16MP sensor coupled with a 5MP wide-angled front-facing snapper.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro features a 4050mAh battery, which is capable of delivering a talk time of 32 hours and standby time of 14 days. However, this will depend on upon the use of the phone.

Talking about specifications, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is equipped with a 6.4-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage. You will be able to work with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on top of Lenovo’s own skin on top.

Tango enables the supported hardware to automatically detect its own location in 3 dimensions by using advanced infrared sensors.

Even though the Phab 2 Pro was supposed to be released in the US this summer, it was to be postponed due to circumstances beyond the control of Lenovo. According to industry analysts, the delay caused due to the nature of Project Tango. The phone is expected to be sold via all retail stores including Best Buy.
