LeEco to commence operations in the US market starting next month

China’s LeEco is all set to commence operations in the United States. As the company has sent out media invites for a launch event in San Francisco, California scheduled for October 19. Besides, the company has also updated its global LeEco website with a teaser about the upcoming event in Sans Francisco. The event kicks off 10:30 PM IST (Indian Standard Time).

Going by the teaser, it seems the company has some grand plans up its sleeves for its US debut. LeEco’s catalog of products in the US would not only include smartphones but even other products such as SmartTV’s along with VR headsets. Besides, the company also plans to roll out its own video streaming service to compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.

LeEco planning Aston Martin designed self-driving car

While back in July this year, the company acquired US television manufacturer Vizio for $2 billion. During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, LeEco announced its plans to further bolster its global footprint by offering new products and unique content offerings. Notably, it’s also prepping an Aston Martin designed self-driving car to rival the likes of Tesla. LeEco plans to turn its future autonomous cars into a fleet of taxis, and their front lights will signify their availability status using different colors.

LecEco also announced its recent partnership with Coolpad, with both expected to churn out 50-60 million units to become one of the top four players in China. Moreover, LeEco envisions on becoming the top smartphone supplier across the globe by next year with annual sales of 100 million handsets. While since its debut in China last year,  it is now among the most popular smartphone brands in its home country. Recently, the company launched its new Le Pro 3 flagship in China which has been selling like hot cakes, with around 500,000 units sold in a matter 15 seconds.

Besides, the company has also reportedly sold more than 10 million handsets by quarter ending April 2016, while in the second quarter its sales have crossed 2 million units in a time span of just a month. Moreover, this figure is expected to cross the 3 million mark by the end of the next quarter.
