Kodak Ektra camera-centric smartphone launched: Specifications, features and price

Kodak Ektra smartphone with 21MP rear camera sensor has been launched. According to company sources, the Kodak Ektra smartphone is aimed at shutterbugs that look exactly like a camera. The phone is mainly oriented for camera and photography enthusiasts.

The main attraction of the Ektra handset is that it has a large protruding 21MP Sony (IMX230) sensor on the rear side with Kodak non-reflective lens coating. Moreover, the handset ships with a 13MP front-facing snapper. The rear camera also provides support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and autofocus. The company reports that not only the phone but also the sensor will be photographer friendly.

Kodak Ektra named after 1941 rangefinder

According to a leading tech portal, Kodak has named the new phone after its 1941 rangefinder and 110 film camera released in the 1970s. Moreover, the rear side is wrapped in leatherette with a slightly curved grip on one side. You will also find a dedicated shutter button on the top side.

Based on the available reports, Kodak has reportedly hired Bullitt to manufacture the Ektra handset. The main attraction of the camera app-infused on the handset will be the integration of a digital ‘Scene Selection Dial’ that enables you to access various shooting modes.

Kodak Ektra Specifications

On the specifications front, the Ektra phone features a 5-inch FHD IPS Corning Gorilla Glass protected display, a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB) and a 3000mAh battery.

Just like OnePlus dash charging, the handset provides support for “Pump Express” quick charging. The phone is loaded with a stock version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

If rumors are to be believed, Bullitt will also integrate Snapseed, which is a photo editing application used to enhance images with digital filters. Interestingly, the app was developed by Nik Software, a subsidiary of Google.

Kodak Ektra Pricing

To begin with, the Kodak Ektra will be available in Europe within the next few weeks at £449. However, there is no information about the worldwide availability.

It remains to be seen how the gadget enthusiasts welcome the Kodak Ektra phone when there are so many options available on the market.
