The Trinity College of Engineering in Kerala is coming up with an innovative idea of developing a satellite thru its students and faculty.
Oman-based Al Adrak company has sponsored the project, and the students have taken up the project to build a satellite called Trinity Adrak Student Satellite (Tassat).
The satellite is expected to be ready by 2018.
Mr Arun who is the director of the institution said, after launching the project: “With so many of Isro divisions and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) located here it has become a natural space science city.
“So, a student satellite programme is the perfect fit to rally the resources of any engineering educational institution,”
“We visited the Nanyang Technological University to have a complete understanding of undertaking such an ambitious project. ”
Freshers will be added to the team that is moving out of the college after completing graduation.
The principal of the college Mary Matilda is optimistic about the whole project, she said that all the departments of the college will get a great boost with Tassat.
The Trinity college is approved by UGC and AICTE and is affiliated to Kerala University.
