Now it is all possible to plan a trip, make railway reservations, check the PNR status from your Windows 8 devices. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in collaboration with software giant – Microsoft has developed and launched an app to provide Microsoft Windows users with a channel for booking e-tickets in addition to the existing portal.
New IRCTC App for Microsoft Windows Devices
The new IRCTC app designed specially for Windows OS supporting devices is capable of performing all the tasks performed by the existing IRCTC web site.
Rakesh Tandon, CMD of IRCTC, during the launch stated,
With this alternative channel of booking, the passengers will have an additional convenience and better experience of booking e-ticket”.
“We are excited to make the IRCTC app available exclusively on the Windows platform. We are committed to bring exciting and new experience to your Windows devices and will continue to create many such firsts,” said Joseph Landes, General Manager of Microsoft Corporation.
The new app is available for download for users of Windows Phone, Windows 8 desktop, tablet and laptop from the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store at no cost. The service of the app however will not be available between 8 AM and 12 AM and 11.30 PM and 12.30 AM as per the existing Railway guidelines.
The App is ideal for travel enthusiasts who are always on the move.
