iPhone 7 and 7 Plus specs leak reveal major overhaul

A brand new spec sheet has just surfaced disclosing some vital specifications of the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The information leaked on the famous Chinese microblogging website Weibo. It confirms most of the rumors we have heard so far and shows that Apple will indeed add improved camera modules to its latest smartphone duo. The revelation duly validates that the Cupertino giant will launch two versions of its iPhone this year featuring two different screen sizes. Read on to know more details about upcoming iPhones.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Specifications

Continuing with the trend, Apple will bring two models of the iPhone 7, one with a 4.7-inch display and another with a larger 5.5-inch display. The former will be called the iPhone 7 and the latter shall be known as the iPhone 7 Plus.

The smaller iPhone will sport a screen resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels which is identical to its predecessors. The bigger variant is also seen to feature similar display specifications to that of its previous generations. According to the disclosed spec sheet, it will sport a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080 x 1920 display panel.

The forthcoming iPhones will be powered by a new generation Apple A10 SoC. Designed by Apple itself and manufactured by TSMC, the chip is expected to provide about 20 to 30 percent jump in performance. Even though the improvement does not seem to be significant, the company may compensate it with enhanced power efficiency.

The leaked information suggests that the 4.7-inch iPhone will come with 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM while the bigger 5.5-inch model will sport 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. This shows that Apple intends to better equip the iPhone 7 Plus than the smaller iPhone 7.

The camera specifications are one of the most notable improvements coming to the next generation iPhones. The leaked info suggests that the iPhone 7 will come with a 12 MP camera with a larger f/1.9 aperture size. This is a significant increase from the f/2.2 sized aperture of the present iPhone 6S. The sensor size is also enhanced from the 1/3” of the current generation to a 1/2.6” one. All of these suggests that Apple has opted for a new camera module for its iPhone 7 which will bring much better low light shooting capabilities.

Although the information about iPhone 7’s camera does seem to be valid, that of iPhone 7 Plus seems to be bit controversial. Till now, we have always heard that the bigger iPhone will come with a dual camera setup, but the spec list just shows a conventional single lens 12 MP unit.

The future iPhones will also reportedly come with a beefed-up battery. A 1960mAh battery will presumably juice up the iPhone 7 while the iPhone 7 Plus may get fuelled by a 2910mAh cell.
