Intel latest 6th-generation Core i3, i5, and i7 Skylake processors: What all you need to know!

Intel announced the 6th generation Skylake series of its Core i processors few months back. The 6th-gen processors lineup includes nine new variants of Core i3, i5, and i7 processor lineup. It gets pretty confusing at times when you’re out in the market to buy the latest processors as you have no idea which one is the right one according to the requirements and end up paying unnecessarily more money.

So, here is our detailed description of all Intel’s latest 6th-gen processors available right now in the market.

  • The TDP in the i3-6300 decreased by 7W that is from 54W to the 47W when compared to the i3-4300 series. However, there is an overall increase in the clock rate by 300 MHz that is from 3.5 GHz to 3.8 GHz.
  • In the i3-6100, the TDP went down again by 7W that is from 54W to 47W when compared to the i3-4130 series. The clock rate went up by 300 MHz, from 3.4 GHz to 3.7 GHz.
  • In the i5-6600, there was a 19W decrease in the TDP as compared to the i5-4670/4690, whereas the overall increase in the clock rate was of 100 MHz.
  • When comparing the i5-6600 with the i5-6600K, there is a 0.2 GHz decrease in the clock rate and the 6600 loses the OC support.
  • When compared to the i7-4770, the i7-6700 decreases the TDP by 19W and has almost the same clock rate as the Haswell processor.
  • In comparison between the i7-6700 and the 6700K, the clock rate difference is a bit significant. The difference lies around 0.6 GHz.

Moving on to the table detailing all the specs of the processors:
