The new 2017 Hyundai Elantra is on its way and will replace the current version of Elantra, which was originally launched back in 2012. It has already started to look a bit dated and save for a facelift job done last year, there wasn’t anything exciting with the sedan anymore.
That’s about to change with the new Elantra, which comes with several improvements over the current versions. Here are a few aspects of the new Elantra worth mentioning.
The new Elantra will be longer and wider than its predecessor, even if it is just by 0.8-inch and 1-inch respectively. That makes the new car have more of interior space and hence better levels of comfort.

That apart, the interior will also feature a 4.2-inch LCD infotainment display along with a few other niceties such as memory setting for the driver’s seat, dual automatic temperature control along with three-spoke steering wheel.
Passenger safety has been accorded paramount importance in the new Elantra with its featuring a host of safety features. Those include seven airbags, ABS, EPS, tire pressure monitoring system, rearview camera, lane keep assist, lane change assist, and blind spot detection.

As for its exterior looks, the new Elantra exudes a sense of style and purpose that is aided in no small measure by the adoption of a large hexagonal grille that also reminds us of the Genesis sedan. That apart, other notable design element includes the sweptback LED headlights and new C-shaped fog lamp cluster. In fact, the new 2017 Elantra also marks the adoption of a new design theme replacing the fluidic design approach that the present Elantra stands for.
2017 Hyundai Elantra Specs
The India bound 2017 Hyundai Elantra is expected to come in two engine versions – a 1.6-litre diesel that already renders service in the current Elantra and a brand new 2.0-litre petrol.
The 1.6-litre diesel has now been rated at 134 bhp and will be mated to a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
The new 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol mill is rated at an even higher 147bhp with transmission option remaining the same.
An even more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged engine together with a 7-speed dual clutch auto box is also being contemplated for a launch sometime later.
Competition:
The new Elantra will be up against the likes of the 2017 Corolla Altis and Honda Civic besides other biggies such as Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, and the Chevrolet Cruze. While that seems to be a formidable line-up to be pitched against, the fact is Elantra does have what it takes to unsettle even the best out there.
