Korean automobile giant Hyundai is geared to launch its next-generation Elantra Sedan in India in early September. According to reports, the sedan has been undergoing road testing as the company prepares to launch the car in the first week of September. The car is expected to be priced between Rs. 16 lakh – Rs. 18 lakh.
Under the hood, the Elantra is expected to get the same 1.6-litre petrol and diesel options. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or automatic. Hyundai is also planning to bring the new 2.0-litre petrol engine to India.

Just like its earlier models, the upcoming Elantra features several interior and exterior upgrades. The interiors are expected to get more space and features such as an 8-inch infotainment system with navigation, a redesigned console along with support for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and more.
In terms of dimensions, the next-gen Hyundai Elantra will measure 4610mm in length, 1800mm wide and 1450mm in height, while the new sedan’s wheelbase is expected to be at 2700mm. There are some design changes as well with a redesigned hexagonal front grille, new sharp sweptback headlamps, while the rear gets new wraparound tail lights. The sides will feature redesigned electronically adjustable rearview mirrors with turn lights along with new alloy wheels.

The upcoming Hyundai Elantra will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla, and Skoda Octavia.
In other related news, Hyundai has also unveiled the 2017 Elantra Sport for the US market. As the name suggests, the car gets sporty interiors and exteriors like a black new grille with sporty LED fog lights, new dual exhaust system, and alloy wheels. Under the hood, the Elantra sport rocks a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 197bhp and 257Nm of torque. Though as of now, Hyundai has no plans of introducing the Elantra Sport in India.
