Hyperloop One, previously known as Hyperloop Technologies, is formed to test the concept of Hyperloop idea proposed by Elon Musk. The setting was perfect for the event Burj Khalifa building in Dubai where the company is pursuing the idea of building the high-speed transport systems for passengers and cargo, in partnership with Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority.
The teaser which was released yesterday in the form of a video clip promises to accomplish train rides from Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 12 minutes, to Riyadh in less than an hour and Doha in under 30 minutes, all this when the train will be travelling at a mind-boggling speed of 500 mph.
It is still too early to talk about the project when it will start, and the time it will take to be commercially operational. The company has not discussed the terms and conditions of the deal, and the technology is still in its testing phase.
The first step of the Hyperloop project will involve building a loop of 99 miles which will cut down a journey which takes two hours by car to a mere 12 minutes. The company is going to test its technology and gearing up for its “Kitty Hawk” moment early next year when a full-scale prototype will be tested in Nevada desert.
The Hyperloop is a high-speed intercity transit system which is composed of passenger and cargo capsules inside a reduced pressure tube system. The capsules will whiz past at the blinding speed of 500 to 800 miles per hour. The mass transit system will carry 15 million passengers every year. It has been touted by its biggest proponent, Alan Musk as an alternative to the California High-Speed Rail project.
