Putting a full stop on the leaks and rumours, Huawei has finally launched its Huawei Nova 4 smartphone today, at an event held in China. The Huawei Nova 4 is a premium mid-range offering by the company that brings in an In-display camera, as seen on the just-launched Samsung Galaxy A8s. Moreover, the higher-end Huawei Nova Pro is the world’s first smartphone to debut with 48MP Sony MX586 sensor.

As mentioned, the design is one of the major highlights of the Nova 4. The device packs in a nearly all-screen front panel. While showcasing the In-display camera, Huawei went a step ahead by comparing it with one on Samsung’s A8s.

The company claims of using the world’s smallest camera setup that measures 4.5mm compared to the 6.5mm slit on A8s. The device hides in an ambient light sensor and makes use of a micro-slot earpiece for maximum screen space.

Huawei Nova 4 Camera Highlights

The Huawei Nova 4 comes with a triple camera setup at the back, reminiscent of the P20 Pro as far as design is concerned. It bears a primary RGB sensor coupled with a 16-megapixel 117-degree wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture. There’s also a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Up front, an AI-powered 25-megapixel shooter sits in the display cut-out for selfies.

As mentioned, there are two versions with different camera configurations. The standard model gets a 20MP Primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture whereas the Pro model debuts with world’s first 48MP Sony IMX586 shooter having the same f/1.8 aperture. In the meanwhile, the Honor View20 is also confirmed to come with the same high-resolution sensor.

The camera app further incorporates nifty AI features including smart scene detection, 10X Hybrid Zoom, facial recognition and 3D emojis apart from 960fps slo-mo, EIS and closed-loop motor for quick focusing.
