Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro to be unveiled on October 16

Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be unveiled at a special event in London On October 16. The company confirmed the announcement during a keynote at the IFA show in Berlin.

It’s worth noting that both handsets of the Mate 20 series will be powered by the company’s latest Kirin 980 processor. The chipset is the world’s first 7nm chipset and offers improved performance as well 40 percent better power efficiency.

“Last year, we showed the world the potential of On-Device AI with the Kirin 970, and this year, we’ve designed an all-round powerhouse that not only features outstanding AI capabilities, but also brings cutting-edge raw performance to consumers,” said Mr. Yu. “Equipped with all-new CPU, GPU and Dual NPU, the Kirin 980 is the ultimate engine to power next-generation productivity and entertainment applications.”

As per earlier leaks, the Huawei Mate 20 features a 6.3-inch AMOLED display. Under the hood, the device is likely to get powered by Kirin 980 processor bundled with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Juicing up the device will be a 4200mAh battery with support for wireless charging. In terms of software, the device is expected to run Android 9 Pie with the company’s proprietary EMUI 9 skin on top.

Past leaks also indicate that the Mate 20 Pro will boast a high-screen to body ratio, much-like the one found on the Vivo NEX and Oppo Find X. Not to mention, there’s also a notch on top just like the iPhone X. In the camera department, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is also said to feature a 42MP triple camera setup on the back.
