It has been known for a while that HTC will be releasing two Nexus phones this year. The specs of the first one codenamed Sailfish was released last week, and now the specs of the second one codenamed Marlin has been released.
A report on Android Police suggests that the Nexus Marlin will have a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560X1440 pixels. The phone will sport a quad-core Qualcomm processor. There is no talk of the number or speed of the processor.

- Quad-core Qualcomm processor
- 5.5″ QHD (2560×1440) AMOLED display
- USB Type-C port
- 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera
- Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner
- 4GB RAM
- 32/128GB of storage
- 3450mAh battery
- Bottom-firing speakers
- Bluetooth 4.2
There is barely any difference between the two devices, and the rumors seem to have even more value because of this since Nexus 5X was a clear advancement of 6P. The only difference is in the display sizes and battery sizes.
Considering the current market conditions, it doesn’t look like the Nexus’ will do well in the battle of specs. Just a 4GB RAM at this price point doesn’t bode well for the consumers with the likes of OnePlus and Xiaomi in the picture.
It looks like Nexus is unlikely to have appeal to those who crave the best and most of everything in their smartphone. But what we are looking at is the pricing. Google has had a decent track record of giving people something they didn’t even think of, and they are not ones to back out of burning holes in their pockets for the right reasons. That being said, now that we are all out of our depths, it would be our best bet to just wait and watch.
