HTC Corporation – HTC (TWSE: 2498), a Taiwanese manufacturer has unveiled the Desire 516 mid-range smartphone in India and it will hit the market same day as BlackBerry Z3. However, spec-wise both the smartphones are more or less identical to each other. The device has an MOP as Rs, 14,200 as company has not revealed any details about its official MRP.

HTC Desire 516 is a Dual-SIM smartphone device (GSM+GSM). Similar to BlackBerry Z3, it has a 5-inch qHD display with the pixel resolution of 960 x 540, and 220 ppi pixel density. This is quite surprising to notice that people are not even going to get 720p display for this price, which is quite disappointing. Surprisingly, company has not revealed which version of Android this phone is running. According to eBay listing, it suggests it could be Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which is additional dissapointment to user’s expectations.

This smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor, having 1GB RAM and Adreno 302 GPU inside. It offers onboard storage of 4GB that is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.
At the back, it has got a 5 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and backside-illuminated sensor (BSI), and 2 MP front-facing camera. The device comes equipped with a removable 1950mAh battery which is expected to deliver up to 9 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 220 hours of standby time on 3G.

The latest addition to our renowned HTC Desire range combines super-fast processing and premium features at a lower price, offering users the best possible experience in this category.”

On paper, this phone looks quite average and it has got a descent specifications. However, we are not yet sure about the performance it can deliver. We are waiting here to get hands-on with this device, hoping to see the review unit hits our test center very soon.
